Today we’re kicking off our United Way campaign [with company theme if applicable].

By pledging to give to United Way of Wyoming Valley (UWWV), you’re helping children living in poverty and people in need throughout our community – people from all walks of life, some of whom would not ordinarily need help were it not for the extraordinary time we’re living in. Your pledge funds the many United Way signature initiatives, partner agencies and programs that impact thousands of lives every day of the year.

In 2019, for example, through United Way of Wyoming Valley programs:
  • 37,208 books were distributed to Wyoming Valley children to ensure they are reading at grade level by the end of third grade.
  • 8,454 children engaged in reading programs to improve kindergarten readiness, school attendance, and summer learning opportunities.
  • 6,980 community referrals were given for people in need.
  • 5,520 nights of shelter were provided for the homeless.
  • 3,083 people received access to oral and primary health care.

To help meet the immediate needs of the COVID-19 crisis:
  • Nearly $200,000 in additional funding was raised to help support local agencies responding to the crisis.
  • UWWV increased their funding of “safety net” providers beyond their original budgets.
  • Because of the abrupt ending to the school year, UWWV purchased Summer Learning Workbooks for 5,946 children, grades K-2 to help the youngest of learners avoid the summer learning loss and stay on track for key academic milestones.

By supporting United Way of Wyoming Valley, people like you make positive change happen in countless ways.
