For 80 years, United Way of Wyoming Valley has served the community by saving and changing lives. Through numerous recessions and the Great Depression; in times of peace and times of war; providing comfort to victims of Hurricane Agnes; addressing the evolving health concerns including Diphtheria…HIV…AIDS; or ongoing problems of homelessness, hunger and despair, United Way has been there as a vital community resource. Over the years, the United Way continually strives to meet the ever changing needs of the people in the Wyoming Valley.
History has shown that no organization has United Way's distinguished record of uniquely serving the community through changing times and emerging needs. As needs evolve and agency services are initiated to address those needs, United Way of Wyoming Valley has demonstrated the ability to focus dollars on the most effective human services.
To keep pace with the ever-changing needs in our community, United Way must constantly adjust its fundraising course. United Way is dedicated to finding new ways to meet the unmet needs of individuals and families. It is growth in the United Way Endowment which will provide additional resources to meet these needs, as well as new challenges that are certain to arise.
United Way is very grateful to our Legacy Society Members for their generous gifts to our community and to the future of the United Way. |
