United Way of Wyoming Valley Impact Councils

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program

VITA offers free tax preparation services to low and moderate-income families to help them avoid costly income tax preparation fees and ensure eligible tax credits.

The United Way of Wyoming Valley has partnered with the Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) to support the Wyoming Valley VITA program.

CEO needs volunteers for the following positions:

  • Phone Volunteers
  • VITA Greeters
  • VITA Drop-off Method Reviewer
  • Basic Tax Preparer/Advanced Tax Preparer
  • Bilingual Spanish volunteers with business or tax background: Assist clients and tax preparers by translating pertinent tax information and questions regarding this information.

Benefits of Volunteering

  • Gain a valuable and marketable skill
  • Make new friends! This is a great opportunity to meet other people in our community who are dedicated to helping others.
  • Satisfaction of knowing that you had a direct impact on our community. Imagine helping someone put food on the table or saving a family from a mortgage foreclosure. As a VITA volunteer, you will help individuals and families keep their hard-earned money.
