Who can participate?
Day of Caring is open for all who want to make a positive difference in our community. It doesn't matter whether you're from a company, group or just an individual - all can participate!.
What is the intent to participate form? If I missed the deadline for that, can I not participate?
The intent to participate form is new this year. It is simply so we can get some type of gauge on the number of volunteers we will have so that we better know if we need more projects or if there will be projects left without volunteers. It is also the opportunity to submit a special request to work with an agency you have a partnership with. This is not a guarantee and this process does not replace the actual project selection process. If you missed the deadline for the intent to participate form, do not fear, you will still be able to participate.
How long do projects take?
Agencies are asked to provide a project that will enable the volunteers to work from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. However, depending on the work pace, some projects may not take as long as others.
What do I need to bring?
Just yourself and a good spirit for most projects! If any additional supplies or tools are needed, it will be noted on the project list.
What is the Day of Caring Breakfast?
A chance for all of the volunteers to get together, meet, socialize and enjoy a continental breakfast courtesy of Wegmans Food & Pharmacy before the big day!
What do we do if it rains?
Day of Caring happens rain or shine! Many of the agencies will provide back-up plans for their outdoor work in the case of rain.
What are some examples of the types of projects?
Past projects include painting, planting flowers, litter pick-up, spring cleaning, opening camps for summer programs, and among many other things, assisting programs for special needs individuals. Feel free to submit any type of project though as long as it can be completed in one day!
