What is Operation Dream?
Operation Dream is a 2 in 1 event. It combines our Day of Caring and our Awards Event into one fun day!
What is the Operation Dream Breakfast?
A chance for all of the volunteers to get together, meet, socialize and enjoy a continental breakfast courtesy of Wegmans Food & Pharmacy before the big day! This year, we will also be recognizing some of our top-performing companies and individuals from around the Wyoming Valley
Who can participate?
We encourage any community member that wants to learn more or get involved with the United Way to join us for a fun-filled day. All individual and corporate donors are encouraged to attend the Operation Dream breakfast and to partake in a Day of Caring project. Campaign teams are also encourage to attend as we will be highlighting and presenting awards to those who put forth extraordinary effort toward the community campaign.
How long do projects take?
Agencies are asked to provide a project that will enable the volunteers to work from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. However, depending on the work pace, some projects may not take as long as others.
What do I need to bring?
Just yourself and a good spirit for most projects! If any additional supplies or tools are needed, it will be noted on the project list.
What do we do if it rains?
Day of Caring happens rain or shine! Many of the agencies will provide back-up plans for their outdoor work in the case of rain.
What are some examples of the types of projects?
Past projects include painting, planting flowers, litter pick-up, spring cleaning, opening camps for summer programs, and among many other things, assisting programs for special needs individuals. Feel free to submit any type of project though as long as it can be completed in one day!
