Day of Caring

The United Way of Wyoming Valley will hold its 20th Annual Day of Caring on Thursday, June 21, 2012. This one-day community wide volunteer effort is designed to bring people together by spending a full day participating in various volunteer projects. Last year, over 900 community members completed more than 70 projects for area non-profit agencies. In addition to the participation of these local companies, many local students, community volunteers, and other non-profit agencies rolled up their sleeves and assisted in projects last year.

Day of Caring is an event that gives individuals first-hand experience as to the needs in the community, as well as the services that are provided to meet these needs. It also offers companies the opportunity to team build and increase employee morale.

Whether you are from a non-profit looking to submit a project or a volunteer looking to help out in the community, please fill out the appropriate forms to participate in this amazing day!

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary, we will also be holding a Book Drive Competition in conjunction with Day of Caring. Click on the Book Drive option under the Day of Caring menu for more information.

Home Depot will be hosting a Free Kid's Workshop at their Wilkes-Barre store on Day of Caring. They have a number of D.I.Y. projects planned for kids throughout the day and have invited a number of local fire departments to attend with their trucks to add to the festivities. So if your family is in the area that day, please stop by, or if you know of anyone who may be interested, please help pass the word. If you would like to volunteer your time to coordinate these festivities, please contact Susan Rukstalis at 820-5901 x077!
