Reception Team Member

American Red Cross Blood Services

Blood Center Volunteer

Volunteers: Meet wonderful new people every day! Volunteers in this position greet, register, and serve refreshments to blood donors at the fixed site in the Hanover Industrial Park

Fixed Donor Site Volunteer
Volunteers: Volunteer at blood drives at our Blood Center located in Hanover Industrial Park. These drives are on a set schedule; same day/times every week. Volunteers can work as one of the following: greeter, escort, or canteen
Hours: Monday-Tuesday: 9:30am - 7pm; Friday-Saturday: 7:30am - 3pm; Sunday: 7:30am - 12pm

Food Packer

Volunteers: Volunteers are needed to pack boxes of supplemental food for low income area seniors. Food to be packed includes canned juice, vegetables, cereal, and are all packed into boxes to be delivered to seniors.
Hours: Saturdays; flexible shifts between 9am – 2pm

Food Pantry Workers

Volunteers: Volunteers are needed to greet families as they come to the food pantry, complete registration forms if it is their first visit, and to pack the bags of food to be distributed.

Homework Helper
Volunteers: Volunteers are needed to help children in grades K through 6 with homework at the Kids Cafe after school program. Volunteers are welcome to stay and eat dinner from 4:45 to 5:15pm
Hours: Monday – Friday; shifts available from 3:00 to 4:30 pm at Heights Kids Cafe and 4:45 to 5:30 pm at Dodson Kids Cafe

Summer Meal Deliverers & Servers
Volunteers: Individuals are needed for CEO Summer Lunch Program! Help with delivering the coolers to locations throughout the Wyoming Valley from CEO's kitchen in the Heights is needed. The lunches are typically ready by 10am to be delivered and are prepared Monday through Friday. Servers are also needed! We are in particular need of help in the Kingston area, but if you have an interest in helping in other areas, don't hesitate to respond. We will match you with a location that is best for you. It only takes about an hour each day.
Hours: June 13 – August 19; Monday – Friday; flexible hours: deliveries usually begin by 10am, lunches are served from 11am to 1pm

Tax Preparer

Volunteers: Volunteer will prepare taxes online for low income individuals through the VITA Program (opportunity available until April 15). Interested individuals must complete an online training and pass a test prior to being able to file taxes for individuals
Hours: Monday – Wednesday; morning and afternoon hours

Community Counseling Services

Senior Peer Counseling Program
Volunteers: Provide one-to-one supportive counseling to senior citizens confined to their home or are uncomfortable in a mental health setting. Must be age 55 or older, able to drive own vehicle. Mileage reimbursement. Orientation training necessary regarding aging issues.
Hours: Weekdays; One to three hours per week based on commitment

Compassionate Care Hospice

Telephone Support Volunteer
Volunteers: Providing telephone support to our patients and caregivers; must enjoy conversing with people and have a positive outlook; orientation training necessary regarding the hospice philosophy

Music Therapy Volunteer
Volunteers:  Providing light instrumental or vocal volunteer support to patients in facility or residential settings; must have previous experience in a performance capacity in school, church or organized group; orientation to hospice philosophy training provided

Companion Volunteer

Volunteers:  Based on patient interest: companionship, reading, playing games, encouraging life review, grocery shopping, etc.; orientation training on hospice philosophy needed; volunteers must have a natural love for people and writing skills to document events of each visit

Eastern PA Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation

Community Service Volunteer

Volunteers: We reclaim abandoned minelands and clean up acid mind drainage through the support of community volunteers, making these areas safer, healthier places to live, as well as providing cultural and educational opportunities to area youth and adults alike. Hospice Volunteer
Volunteers: Patient visits, respite for caregiver, running errands, patient phone calls, clerical help in the hospice office. Training provided and required, backround check required.

Hospice Volunteer

Volunteers: Hospice Volunteers visit patients in their homes, nursing homes and at our In-Patient Units. Volunteers also make Bereavement calls and provide transportation and clerical services. Volunteers must be 18 or older and will undergo a Criminal Background Check.
Hours: Everyday from 8am - 9pm
