Promoting Youth Development
United Way provides local girls and boys with the opportunity to participate in recreational, educational, and social activities. Through 9 programs at 7 agencies, United Way assists in teaching children positive self-image, the importance of physical and mental fitness, leadership skills, and the purpose of community services. United Way dollars are also used to enable at-risk children to join 16 recreational and socialization activities that their families would not otherwise be able to afford, including summer camps, sports, and fitness programs.
