Increasing Independence for the Elderly and Disabled
United Way offers services that directly affect seniors, individuals with mental retardation, developmental disabilities, and physical disabilities, and residents in need of medical services.  Through 18 programs at 13 agencies, United Way supports programs that provide seniors with guardianship services, transportation, socialization, and programs that prevent elder exploitation, as well as give individuals with disabilities and mental retardation an opportunity for socialization, job skill training, therapy, and transportation.  In this area, United Way also provides care for the acutely and chronically ill.
